Different types of surfactants

MES, SLES, and AES are all types of surfactants commonly used in cleaning products and personal care products. Here are the differences between them:

MES (Sodium Lauryl Methyl Ether Sulfate): It is an anionic surfactant derived from coconut oil and is commonly used in shampoos, body washes, and toothpaste. MES is milder than SLES and AES, making it a better choice for sensitive skin.

SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate): It is also an anionic surfactant and is derived from coconut oil and petroleum. SLES is a stronger detergent than MES and is commonly used in cleaning products, such as dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and household cleaners.

AES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate): It is an anionic surfactant derived from ethoxylated lauryl alcohol and is commonly used in cleaning products, such as dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. AES is similar to SLES but is considered to be slightly milder.

Overall, the main difference between these surfactants lies in their chemical structure and the degree of their cleansing power. MES is the mildest, while SLES is the strongest, and AES is somewhere in between.
